A JOYFUL AND UPBEAT BIRTHDAY POST

Yes, it's my birthday today and I thought that I should mark the occasion with a joyful and upbeat post...well! the thought was as good as it got.  I think I can safely say that I've reached a stage (note I didn't say age!) where the words joyful and upbeat are now routinely replaced with 'grumpy old man' and 'spritely for his age'!

Perhaps a few pictures will help to explain it a little better....

There's grumpy old man reminders everywhere..

..and the tell tale signs, as things start to look blurred and fuzzy, that my eyesight is not what it once was..

..and people, who think they're being kind, put up handrails "it's just to help you walk safely" along your favourite pathway...

..even the birds, who once posed nicely for me, just laugh at my feeble attempts to photograph them...

Willow Warbler

Blackcap

Grey Heron

..or hide their faces, and make out they haven't seen me, in the hope that I'll just pass on by..

Teal

.. or just blatantly give me the 'bum's rush'!

Greylag Goose

So, that's it...Just take note for the next time when you're out and about and you have the misfortune to come across an old duffer who's engulfed in a fart induced haze and soaked in dribble...be kind to him...it just might be ME!!

Err... I seem to have forgotten what this post was going to be about! ...anyway, have a good weekend, I know I will...Now, there was something special happening, what was it again?.....

Nice one Trevor.
I know the feeling only too well, all this struggling to get up, after taking low shots, the dribbling, the farting ....
Hope you had a good day. The year is going far too quickly.

Cheers Keith. I guess there's only one thing for it...we'll just have to struggle on!...[;o)

Just found your blog as I am just new to blogging so it is a belated Happy Birthday greeting. I loved your humour in your text and shots adn it did make me really laugh. All true of course, i can say that as I am also retired early ? years ago. Hve you not written a post since then? Come on, get out there and send us more of your photos and humour.

Margaret, thanks for stopping by and for the kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

To be honest I'm a bit disheartened with blogger at the moment...apparently this post didn't appear on all of my regular readers reading lists (it's not the first time this has happened!) Also, at the moment, I would rather spend time out and about taking photographs than sitting at the computer...I've got lots of photos waiting to be sorted!!

So keep watching, I'll eventually make an effort and do a post soon...[;o)

Hi Trevor :-) It's happened again!!! Your post 'Yellow is the Colour' is the last post which shows on my sidebar :-( I really don't know what is going on. I had the same problem with one other blogger (which was what made me check yours!) and resolved it by removing her blog from my sidebar and then reinstalling it, I will try the same with yours when I finish this comment. Blogger is so annoying because I now feel I need to check on every blog I follow which hasn't updated for a few weeks. Sometimes I wonder whether this blogging lark is worth all the time and trouble! Though that may be partly because I have been unable to get out throughout the entire period of good weather due to being unwell so am pretty fed up at the moment :-(

Anyway, many belated Happy Birthday wishes. I love the humour you brought to the post and all the lovely photos. 'Feeble attempts'!! Nothing could be further from the truth :-) Love the Willow Warbler and Blackcap. What they were really doing of course was singing Happy Birthday to you :-)

Hi again Trevor, Removing it and reinstalling it...twice...made no difference :-( It still shows the old post. Can only think it's something your end but no idea what I'm afraid. Maybe your next post will put it right.

Thanks Jan. Yeh I had a good Birthday...they seem to come around much faster these days!

I'm getting really fed up with blogger, it takes me ages to do the posts (it doesn't come naturally!) and then I'm not sure if people are going to be able to see them, very frustrating!!

Sorry to hear that you're unwell, best wishes for a quick recovery and I hope you're able to get out and about very soon.

I hope you're able to see my next post, if I get in the right frame of mind to do one...that is!...[;o)

Thanks for trying Jan. It's a pain in the proverbial! Maybe, if I find the time tomorrow, I'll just post a couple of images and see what happens! Keep watching!!!...[;o)

The roll of hay took me a few, but got it :-( !!
I actually love the first out of focus shot...then again it could be my eyes : ) !
Seriously (I do get that way occasionally) These are wonderful shots no matter the reason for them!!
Don't depend on me to find you by smell, since I haven't been able to smell anything in the last 2 years those farts better make a large haze : )))))!!

Hi Grace...Thanks for those very kind and complementary birthday wishes!!

Glad you got to see the post in the end. I thought you would enjoy the humour!!

I'm really fed up with blogger but I guess I'll have to have another go at doing a post, just to see what happens?

I guess, when things start to turn hazy, losing your sense of smell does have its advantages!!...[;o)
