OFF WITH THE OLD - ON WITH THE NEW

After a busy breeding season now is the time of year when many of our small garden birds begin to  go into a full moult and replace their old worn out feathers with pristine new ones. This process can take from 6 to 8 weeks depending on the species, during which time they will mostly stay hidden from view in the bushes and undergrowth.

Blackbird

Blue Tit

Dunnock

Greenfinch

Looking a bit scruffy but still beautiful!

Wonderful images.......they look as if they have had grooming lessons from a Coal Tit.
