A SELECTION OF RECENT IMAGES

Over the last couple of days I've made a start on that enviable job of sorting through, and processing, the backlog of images that I've taken on recent outings!...

Here's a few that I think are worthy of posting!

Taken on May 30th. at RSPB Minsmere Marsh in Suffolk, this Hobby was putting on a spectacular display as it hawked for insects over the Reed beds before deciding to pose for a photo call on a branch just outside the hide window.

A quick reaction shot of a Little Ringed Plover as it skimmed low over the water at RSPB Titchwell  in Norfolk on June 6th.

We thought the behaviour of this Redshank a little odd as it was making lots of noise as it circled low over our heads, until we heard some 'cheeping' coming from the bottom of the nearby Reeds and realised we were being 'warned off' from the chicks that were hidden there!

This Grey Heron looked the picture of decorum  until it spotted me approaching  and made a rather unglamorous exit...April 10th. Grand Union Canal towpath  beside  Marsworth Reservoir  in Buckinghamshire.

Love those flight shot's of the Redshank ..you wasn't throwing rocks at it to get it all riled up where you using the chicks for an explanation ? ; ))

Hi Grace...You're very kind..thank you.
Your A.Kestrel does look much like our Hobby, I think the Hobby is a bit more showy though with it's smart red trousers (pants!)
That Redshank, and it's mate, didn't need any help from me they were getting nicely 'fired up' all by themselves!
Not the Heron's beat side was it?...[;o)

The Hobby shots are an instant favourite as it's my favourite bird..ever. The Redshank behaviour shots are great they often display to other females like that too.

Hobbies sure are beautiful birds to see Douglas especially when they're, as this one did, showing off their agility in the air as they hawk for insects.
The Redshank pair had an ongoing job there as the chicks were hidden close to the road/footpath!...they went into full protection/diversion mode every time someone walked by!...[;o)

That Hobby in flight is a cracker; much better than my effort. The Redshanks ain't too shabby either lol

Thanks Keith, I was quite pleased with the Hobby shot, even though more than a little luck was involved!!...[;o)

Lovely photos again Trevor, love the ones of the Hobby! The departure of the Heron was rather unseemly and compounded by the fact that it looked like it was wearing a pair of red stiletto shoes in the last photo!! :-)

Thanks Jan. Yeh, just a bit of luck involved with the first Hobby shot...lol.
Not sure about the red Stilettos!...not in my field of expertise I'm afraid!!...[;o)
